Tasks addressed by pharmaceutical product examination
A study may identify active and auxiliary substances, compare samples, check declared composition, examine impurities and investigate signs of product change. The programme depends on the client’s question, dosage form and available sample quantity.
Objects of study
Objects may include tablets, capsules, solutions, ointments, pharmaceutical substances, packaging and labelling samples, comparison samples and supporting documentation.
Possible research methods
Chromatographic, mass-spectrometric, spectroscopic and physicochemical methods may be used depending on the task. Methods are selected after the object and questions have been reviewed.
Materials needed for a preliminary assessment
Send photographs and a description of the object, the questions to be answered, batch and manufacturer details, available documentation, the amount of sample and the purpose of the study.
Deliverable
The form of the deliverable is agreed before work starts and may include a study report, specialist conclusion or another document appropriate to the agreed task.
